Mieszkam we Wrocławiu. Przeprowadziłem się tutaj z mojej rodzinnej Świdnicy w 2012 roku, aby podjąć studia na ASP. Mieszkam tu do dziś. Od samego początku miasto imponowało mi swoją kulturą i ludźmi, którzy ją tworzą. Myślę, że panuje tutaj taki specyficzny mikroklimat, powstały w wyniku przecinania się różnych szlaków i perspektyw. Lubię w nim tę swoistą chłonność – jest miejsce na każdą inicjatywę, a społeczności chętnie je podejmują. W szczególności te małe, oddolne działania znajdują swoich odbiorców. Każdy znajdzie coś dla siebie. Wrocław doceniam też przestrzeń (która niestety się kurczy w wyniku absurdalnych decyzji urbanistycznych) i za bliskość zieleni, w szczególności wały wzdłuż Odry i Widawy, przecinające całe miasto.
I live in … The thing that I like about it most is…
I live in Wroclaw. I moved here from my home town of Swidnica in 2012 to take up studies at the Academy of Fine Arts. I live here to this day. From the very beginning, the city impressed me with its culture and the people who create it. It’s a specific microclimate that merged from the intersection of different paths and perspectives. I like that the city is very absorbent – you can find space for your initiatives. Especially these small, grassroots ideas that always find their audience. Anyone can find his or her place. I also appreciate Wroclaw for its space (which is, unfortunately, shrinking due to irrational urban decisions), the proximity of green terrains, the embankment alongside Odra and Widawa – the two rivers crossing the city.

Najlepszy najgorszy pomysł… to trudne. Nie jestem w stanie nic takiego sobie przypomnieć. Jeśli spotykał mnie w życiu jakiś przypał, to na całego. Kiedyś nie dostałem się za pierwszym razem na Akademię i poszedłem na rok studiować kulturoznawstwo. To był taki luźny rok na rozruch. Poznałem wtedy kupę fajnych ludzi, a część z tych znajomości zaowocowała ciekawymi projektami.
The best-worst idea was…
The best worst idea… it’s hard. I can’t remember because whenever I screwed up, I used to go all the way. Once I didn’t get into Art’s School and I ended up studying Culture. It was a very relaxed year, a good warm up. In that period, I met a lot of great people and later in life, I had a chance to do many interesting projects with them.
Projektowanie jest trudne bo (a może nie jest?)
Czasem słońce, czasem deszcz. Wydaje mi się, że najtrudniejszy aspekt projektowania to ta gra na uczuciach. Możesz zdobyć całą dostępną wiedzę, poznać wszystkie zasady, zrobić świetny projekt, dać z siebie wszystko, ale na koniec i tak często wszystko rozbija się o umiejętności psychologiczne i sposób przedstawienia pomysłu klientowi. Szczególnie kiedy nie masz wyrobionej marki, którą ludzie biorą w ciemno. Często dochodzi do tego niska świadomość wizualna klienta. Wielu poległo na tym etapie. Z drugiej strony to świetna okazja, żeby starać się być lepszym i bardziej kompetentnym projektantem, gotowym na każdą trudność.
Design is difficult because (or is it?)
Sometimes sun, sometimes rain. I think that the most difficult aspect of designing is to play the emotions right. You can possess all the accessible knowledge, get to know all the rules, create a great project, give your best and at the end, it all comes down to your psychological skills and how you communicate the idea. Particularly if you’re not yet an established brand that people would trust blindly. If you add to it the client’s low visual awareness, you can fail. On the other hand, it’s a great opportunity to grow as a designer – to become more competent and resilient to hardships.
